Manually Creating Follow-up Reminders for Customers
Most of the reminders can be automatically created by Jewelry Shopkeeper based on sales files, customers' anniversaries and birthdays, repairs in progress, special-order sales, customer purchases, wish lists, accounts payable and inventory reorder items.
However, you can manually add reminders based for other reasons. For example:
You want to contact a customer when you get a price estimate for a watch. You want to contact a customer nine months after a ring sale to offer a free checkup. You want to follow up on your offer to trade-up a diamond you sold. You want to suggest an appraisal update. etc.
At the top of the Sales screen, the Repairs screen, the Appraisal screen and the Customer profile screen, choose Options, then Add a Reminder.
To get the Add a Follow-up Reminder screen.
The Notes explain what the reminder is for and for any comments when you've handled it.
The Reminder Sub-Type is optional and is for any classification you like, such as Warranties, CAD Design ready, etc. Later, these Sub-Types can be used to filter the reminders list in case you want to view only the outstanding warranties reminders. You don't need to specify a Sub-Type such as Repair Ready, because Repairs Ready is already its own main category, separate from the Manual Follow-Up Reminders
The Clerk is optional, but can be used to assign a reminder to one particular sales person. You can manually type in the clerk's initials, but you can also click the Logged-in Clerk button to fill in the initials of the currently logged-in clerk. This does not mean that a reminder assigned to clerk AAA will appear only if clerk AAA is logged-in to Shopkeeper, but there is a choice to see only those reminders with one's own initials.
The Repeat Every option is optional and would automatically generate a new reminder, with the same details, X months later when the current reminder is marked as complete.
In order that the manual Follow-Up type of entries actually appear in the Reminders Action center, be sure to check the Follow-up checkbox on the Display Options tab.
