13. Delete a Sku from a Sale

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

When you are entering items, you may want to change or remove any of the items already typed in.

To edit or delete a line, the cursor must be in the SKU number field of the first blank line on the sales screen. If the cursor is not in this field, finish entering the current line.

With the cursor in the first blank SKU number field, type an at-sign @. The at-sign is entered by holding down the <Shift> key and pressing the number <2> (the key above the letters). Next to the @, type the number of the line to edit or delete, and press <Enter> twice. For example, to edit line number 2, type @2 and press <Enter> twice. The cursor will move to the line selected.

Alternatively, you may press <↑> arrow one or more times to edit a preceding line.

To change the line, press <Enter> to move to the field to edit, and make the new entry. You can change the style, description, quantity, and price. When you reach the end of the line, the cursor will move to the next blank line for the next entry.

To delete the line, type a zero (0) in the quantity field or the weight field. You will be asked to confirm deletion of the line. When you delete a line from a sale, the quantity of the item is returned to stock.

If the sale was originally typed in on a previous day, you should not edit the original sale to delete or edit an item. Instead follow the instructions on customer returns and exchanges.
