Before inventory can be entered, you should type all your vendors in the system. You can also add vendors to your vendor list on-the-fly when you receive a shipment of merchandise using Receive Without a Purchase Order from the Inventory Menu. For best results, a clear, easily recognizable approach to assigning vendor codes will result in hours of time savings.

 

A vendor is a company or person from whom merchandise or services have been or will be ordered.

 

Do not confuse vendor with manufacturer (sometimes referred to as brand). For example, if you are ordering Seiko watches from Seiko, both the vendor and the manufacturer are Seiko. However, if you are ordering Seiko watches from Joe’s Watch Distributors, then Joe’s Watch Distributors is the vendor and the manufacturer is Seiko. Usually, the vendor and the manufacturer are the same.
