Alternate Control Code Change
Instructions for Datamax E-4205 Thermal Transfer Printer
Note: Before performing this procedure, make sure that the printer is correctly loaded with labels and thermal transfer ribbon.
| 1. | With the printer OFF, hold down the F1 (Pause) button on the top of the printer, and turn the printer ON. |
| 2. | Continue to hold down the F1 button until the YELLOW (Pause) light on the top panel turns OFF. The printer is now if Menu Mode. |
| 3. | Press the F1 button once and let go, this will print a Menu of printer settings |
| 4. | Hold down the F2 button for 11 flashes of the RED (Fault) light, the printer will print the default Standard = Control Codes Setting. |
| 5. | Press and Release the F1 button. The printer will print the new Alternate = Control Codes. |
| 6. | Hold down the F1 and F3 buttons at the same time, then release. The YELLOW light will illuminate briefly, then go out. |
| 7. | Hold down the F1 and F3 buttons again, then release. The YELLOW light will illuminate again, then go out. |
| 8. | The printer is now set to use alternate control codes (~). |
NOTE: The code changes will not be saved until the F1 and F3 buttons are held down a 2nd time as noted in step #7.
